WOW!
Never saw this thread here before....
But until recently, never spent a lot of time here. So....
I usually only spend an hour and a half or two online, split between two or three various forums. And ONE of them is the Turner Classic Movies message boards, and too, I spend plenty time watching films on that channel. So, the LAST one I watched( last night) was:
THE SHINING HOUR ('38) with JOAN CRAWFORD and MELVYN DOUGLAS. Whitefang

THE HAPPYTIME MURDERS - An offbeat comedy set in the seedy underbelly of Los Angeles where puppets and humans coexist. I didn't really intend to pick this one out to watch. It just happened to be on while I was working on some things. There are some very humoring parts and dialogue. With the language and so on though no way for children on this one.

I was going to start a new thread, but don't have that option....I think I have started something, sometime......
I was going to ask:
What was the last thing you watched on NETFLIX.......
I've been watching "The Fall"
Not bad so far

However, that's a TV series, not a film(or movie if you will. I've never in my 68 years have been able to determine the difference.) I've settled on that those who, for whatever reason, need to feel pretentious, use the word "film" instead of "movie". Anyway... Since I long ago lost track of my old VHS copy, and have yet to replace it with a DVD, the last movie( or "film") I watched was just last night's TCM presentation of the excellent TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD ('62). I've yet to tire of either the book OR the movie. Whitefang

Nobody has been here for some time. But in another forum(TCM) there's a debate going on about the difference between what's called a "movie" and what's called a "film". Some people(me included) don't hold a different criteria for either word, using them interchangeably. And some feel a "film" should be held to a higher standard of quality than just a mere "movie". So, when the query was made, "What was the last film you watched?" I have to ask. What and how did the OP mean for the word "film" to be taken? Whitefang

I do watch a bunch of stuff on PBS and Netflix/Amazon Prime, mostly stand up comedies, and old TV show comedies. Once in a while I will go to the theaters to accompany my wife for her safety, but I rarely enjoy what I see there.

Neither did I in more recent years. The last movie my wife and I saw in a theater was GRAVITY('13). Wasn't too bad, and the 3-D effect was OK, but a lot of what's hitting theaters lately aren't interesting to me. One can only stomach so many vampires and zombies before they can say "enough!". Most of my movie watching is stuff I already have on old VHS and DVD or on TCM(Turner Classic Movies). As a kid I always enjoyed going to the show, and movies have always too been a long favored source of entertainment. That is whenever I wasn't listening to my radio or wearing out 45s on the "phonograph". As too, a photographer and photography "buff" (as well as an old movie "buff") much of the older movies shot in black and white can have some stunning cinematography. And storylines based more on character development or integral plotlines and rely on camera work and acting as opposed to CGI and other special effects. Personally, I don't see how anyone can't get a kick out of watching an old Marx Brothers movie, or the original KING KONG or FRANKENSTEIN or DRACULA. Then there's the compelling story of CITIZEN KANE which if for nothing else, there's Gregg Toland's excellent cinematography. And really? None of you ever enjoyed seeing '51's THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL? or THE WIZARD OF OZ? And of course, it's a matter of mood..... If I'm in no mood for any movie or can't think of any music I feel like listening to at any time, i also have a ton of books to pass the time with. But not lately as I've yet to get a renewal on my specs. 'Bout time for one of my annual readings of Ken Kesey's SOMETIMES A GREAT NOTION or Gary Paulsen's WINTERDANCE. Expanding the range of your interests can be somewhat rewarding. Whitefang

Richard Jewell, Eastwood's historic about the Olympics bombing in Atlanta. High marks from me.
