It would be nice to see them back on track, after the disaster that was (or at least seemed to be) their last CEO, who not only ran Gibson into the ground, but destroyed some other brands as well. I'm hoping for the best.

I'm hoping for the best. That's for sure Joe. I still think Gibson has a problem with the Epiphone brand. It seems a lot of good guitar players have opted for the Epi brand which seems to perform as good as the real Gibson product.

Fender has its Squier brand and they seem to be doing okay with it, but I don't know, that's just a guess on my part. But if they are, what are they doing differently than Gibson/Epiphone?

They use cheaper pickups and other little appearance things. But the smart guitar players are taking the Epiphone and upgrading the electronics to be as good as the Gibson. Fender Squire was a piece of crap initially (like their try at the acoustic market). But some people I know here in SW Virginia like the Squire after they upgrade the pickups.

I can hardly wait! Actually I wish them well with this. Gibson was doing well all along with the guitar line. What really hurt was the other product lines they purchased that were not profitable. Also, just to mention most of the guitars produced, 70-80% are shipped and bought outside the US and have been that way for many years.
