Ok, so i just bought/ordered a D-20 synth music workstation, by Roland. Off of Reverb.com. For $99.00, plus $60.00 shipping, and $5.94 for Maryland sales tax. For a grand total of $164.94. Which is still not a bad price for a 31 year old synth.
So why D-20? For one thing, the price was amazing! Also, i don’t have a disposable income. Plus, I’m not really happy with the Arturia MicroBrute, DrumBrute and KeyStep. Not that there is anything wrong with them. They just aren’t cutting for my needs musically. Plus after reviewing a YouTube video featuring them, further added to the change. As i really don’t know what to do with them? Plus, the DrumBrute is a bit over my head, as i don’t know how to program a drum machine. Also, you have to download a manual, because one was not included. Also, the MicroBrute sounds too harsh.
Also, i had rushed into buying them, without knowing what it was i wanted. I was more used to digital synths or sample play back rompler’s. Hell, my first keyboard was a Casio that i paid $100.00 for from Service Merchandise in 1988. Man, i miss that store. Actually, pretty much every keyboard i owned was digital. My first experience with an analog synth was not until my senior year of high school! It was a Minimoog, only analog synth, i was intrigued with. Of course, i don’t have $3,000.00 to spend on a re-issue, let alone vintage.
The other thing too is, the D-20 is not a sought after synth, like the D-50. So they are still easy to find.

As I'm not a keys player all I can tell you is I hope it works well enough to bring you the joy you're hoping for. Whitefang

Ok, so i just bought/ordered a D-20 synth music workstation, by Roland. Off of Reverb.com. Good luck with it amigo. I once had a Roland D 550 the rack mount of the D 50 and it was one of my very favorite synths. I once owned a bunch of Roland gear, and I liked every one of them a bunch. I used to do boiz with the now defunct Tekcom in Philly a high end recording and music store. I sold most of that gear through them, and Will Smith the actor/rapper and Jazzy Jeff his DJ bought both of my D 550's a long time ago (late 80's)

I must admit, this is a good synth, considering it’s age. It’s laid out nicely, although programming is a nightmare! The fact that it is a workstation is not bad. I should have bought this long ago.
