I think we're going to head to Texas Hill Country soon. The Valley here is so urban- the bad parts- and it's kind of weird being a minority. I go an offer for a site north of San Antonio, work for rent. Same as here but less hours. The music opps may be better there as well with the country towns around. Austin is like 2 hours away too. And the scenery is way better!

Good luck out there. I used to live in Austin, one of my favorite places to have been a resident. Keep us updated.

This will be a small town. But Austin may be on the agenda. I will know more tomorrow.

I mapped it. I have been through near there on I-10, and on the beltway around San Antonio many times. I never stopped there however, nor have I been in the town which is a bit west of my travels through there. We just passed through every year on surf trips from the east coast to the west coast. I did live in Austin for several years in the early 80's.

I got down to the hill country a few times in the 80's. Willie Nelson picnics, camping on the Guadalupe River, and a few stopoffs around New Braunfels on the way back from Mexico. It will be cool to have time to explore the little towns in the area like Fredericksburg and others. We're hoping to find some gigs too. I have an old friend about an hour and a half east near Canyon Lake, a drummer. Another guitar friend in Austin. So I doubt we'll be bored!

On our way in '91 to Laredo we stopped in San Antonio just long enough to see the Alamo( which really has no basement! ) and take a ride on the canal. I bought a woven straw hat shaped like a fedora that until 2015 I wore when doing yard work. It's still 'round here somewhere... Whitefang

I met my wife in San Antonio for the second and third time. The first time was in Solana Beach California. Both of us were from New Jersey at the time. On the third meeting on my way back east from California, I decided to write her a letter when I got back to Jersey detailing my interest. That spring she went home to central Jersey and called me on the phone, so I asked her to come visit on the island in south Jersey, which she did, and we have been together ever since.
