It doesn't sound like they're all using the same backing "track" necessarily on all of them as much as the same arrangements. And the Beach Boys "Surfin' U.S.A." also wasn't the same "backing track" but just plain, outright THEFT! And it was all settled before Chuck's death. But this is kind of fascinating in that you wonder if some label suits figured NObody would ever notice! Now, we(most of us) know that many blues tunes are based on the same 12 bar riffs( key and all), But more often than not there's a change in some aspect of each tune. You'd also figure these guys should(or could) have been clever enough to find some OTHER way to save a buck. Whitefang

Seems I posted this before..... But maybe DID forget to click "post quick reply".......... But: "MR"funkysister? Shouldn't that be "MS"funkysister? or perhaps, "MrfunkyTRANNY" Anyway, I've either never heard, or heard OF the artists "borrowing" all these backing tracks. Nor am I familiar with ANY of such usage outside of record clubs( especially Columbia) doing so with studio vocalists trying to impersonate various "famous" singers for some "Today's Popular Hits" LP. I'm guessing I listened to the WRONG radio stations all these years.... Whitefang

I read an interview with one of the Funk Brother and he said they just used the same base Motown track from the original vocal ones then over dubbed instrumental version parts for their own instrumental LP.
