Heard good stuff about that one. It's on my list. However.....
Seeing as the query is LAST film watched, well, just 5 minutes ago I got up from in front of the tube after the ending of "Lady for A Day"('33) on TCM. You might be more familiar with the 1962 remake starring Bette Davis and Glenn Ford called "Pocket Full Of Miracles".
The '33 original starred May Robson and Warren William. Both versions(IMO) are good as the odd thing about the remake is that it had the same director!( Frank Capra) An unusual case for a remake. Whitefang

Stayed up to watch DINNER AT EIGHT('33).----Again! Before that it was GRAND HOTEL('32) both on TCM. My daughter dropped by, and with not too much knowledge of "classic" film and actors, was surprised to learn the skinny funny looking guy in "Grand Hotel" who plays a character named KRIGERLEIN was the same actor who 14 years later would be the mean and rotund MR. POTTER of "It's A Wonderful Life." Anyway, as much as I've seen "Dinner At Eight", this ending with Jean Harlow and the great Marie Dressler still cracks me up! Whitefang

You meant 1996 for Matilda, right? Good movie too. For me, it was... Whitefang

No prob. Get fucklefingered myself sometime! But in that movie, it always tickles me at the part when Danny Devito says, "We gotta beat the speedboat salesmen to the airport!" My kids liked the book too. Whitefang
