Well, not totally they still have my account and personal info, and since I can’t temporarily disable my account for at least another week. I deleted my posts, and logged out, and deleted the app from, my phone. Facebook and Instagram won’t let you leave completely, just temporarily, but seeing’s as I have not been on Facebook for three years, I consider it over. I’ll just have to disable my account for Instagram in a week.

Before DBM gave you what was probably better info, I had no problem closing my wife's FaceBook account, which I was using instead of starting up another one. Since she only registered on FB to see what her sister was making such a big fuss about, and finding nothing of interest to her on it, a couple of years later I went on there because my sister told me about a FB page dedicated to current and past Lincoln Park, MI residents. That lasted less than a year as I found if I took a "side" on any issue that was "outside the box" from everyone else I got a lotta needless flack. It got too much like the eighth grade for me, so I "deactivated" the account. There's lots more behind it, but why bore you with what you probably already know? Whitefang

I left because of all of the politics. Also, i was getting too many friend requests from young women. Wanting me too view their nude bodies, or from people I don’t even know? Not too mention the stupid algorithms.
I have found a much better group of like minded people.

Like minded is OK, but lately that's come to mean a "pod people" circle-jerk. I can't abide.
As for politics, the TCM forum I'm a member of has a separate page for political discussion and it seems to be where most members go to vent and display their particular brand of stupidity. Actually, it's not a political page per se, but called "Off Topic Chit-Chat". But political threads seem to be in the majority. I mostly go there to look into and contribute to the non political threads. Whitefang

I meant like minded, in that we like to discuss music. Not Politics or religion!

Well, as long as you can express your opinion on music( or anything, really) in your own way without getting needless flack over any of it, then that's a good deal. Whitefang

Truth be told! Social media has allowed people to have an opinion on pretty much everything! Which I am sick and tired of. If I go back, it will most definitely NOT be a personal account. Same goes for Instagram.

I'm only on Facebook although signed up on Twitter by only on there twice briefly. Facebook was pretty packed with the politicos in the past but not too bad now. I mainly go on pages that don't allow politics, racism, religion and so on. My visits are not all that often and usually brief. I have a lot of longtime friends that live a distance away so nice to visit. with them. Even the "If you da da da pass it on" or "Only a few people will pass this on" (HA HA) have thankfully diminished.

I left, because I was becoming too addicted to it!

If I can't communicate with old friends by eMail, the phone or sending them a letter, then I'll do without. I don't care for "Futzbook" and it's Orwellian circle jerk. Anyway... I've had the same telephone number for 32 years, cell phone number for 16, so I shouldn't be hard to locate for anyone. And I'm still one of those "old school" guys who still sends out Christmas cards, HAND SIGNED, and THROUGH THE POSTAL SERVICE! to anyone who's address I have. Of course, my Holiday wishes will be posted here for any and all forum members whose home addresses they wisely don't post into cyber space. Whitefang

I stay on Facebook for one reason only, my family lives on an Island out in the ocean. During Super Storm Sandy, the only way I stayed connected with family was through Facebook on already charged tablets and cell phones. So some of my nieces and nephews live on the mainland, and they had electric service after a few days whereas the Island family did not have any services for many weeks. That is the only reason I use social media, to keep in touch with family and friends during weather disasters etc.

Seems though, DBM, if they had "already charged tablets and cell phones" you could have just as easily talked with them? That is unless, if you all can punch out text as quickly as you can talk. I just tried it. It took me 1/4 th of the time to say what I just typed than it took me to type it. Whitefang
