I'll be here every morning,but I know there are some who either will still be stuck working, or travel out of their state to visit family and other loved ones. Mixed vegetables always reminds me of what my Mom and Grandma (both who spent years working gin the restaurant business) said about them Eateries usually serve them on Fridays, and mostly because they mix all the leftover vegetables from the week into one pot to finally get rid of them And sorry, but I've been unable to seriously say "veggies" since reaching adulthood. And both breakfast at a sister in law's and Christmas dinner at a nephew's were choices of foods I no longer do not or cannot eat. So I'll be paying the price most of today. Whitefang

Yep Fangster, I ate stuff that will clog the bowels yesterday as well. However when I got home from the in-laws house, I took a laxative before bed, and it worked wonderfully. I actually ate dairy as snacks before the dinner with rolled up meat and cheese, and then Pina Coladas with Vanilla ice creams as well as rum and whatever else they put in those drinks. Ordinarily dairy in my diet would lock me up for days. However with a little foresight I alleviated that problem with the "Smooth Move" tea I drank before bedtime.

I didn't eat too much mainly hash brown casserole (eggs, sharp cheddar, ham and hashbrown potatoes, baked ) and carrot cake. I had a couple holiday type beers, a Stella Artois Midnight Lager and a Sam Adams Winter Lager. I bought a standing rib roast but decided to have it later either this Sunday or on New Years. Wow, the end of one and the beginning of a new decade! It seems sort of weird or ? thinking about it.

Funny thing about these VEGGIES is, I just saw on History Channel about Clarence Birdseye, who pioneered frozen food and became a food giant. The package we fixed was one of Birdseye's products. Very nice. Brisket has lasted well and there's some in the freezer for a bit later.

Ah, yes. "The Foods That Built america", an interesting series of shows. I thought it interesting that most of the chocolate used for products to compete with Hershey was obtained from Hershey! DBM: Constipation wasn't the problem. Sodium levels and vitamin K( which interferes with Coumadin) and of course, saturated fats, are a main concern. I worry more about clogging the arteries than the bowels. Whitefang

Wow Fangster you are on blood thinners?. All I take for that problem so far is a baby aspirin daily, which is questionable whether it works or not. I watch my starches and never but never eat wheat products. The gluten in wheat is very attracted to LDL Cholesterol, the two bond and since the gluten molecule is jagged and the LDL is round and smooth, some how the two combine and form the plaques in the blood stream. (According to the neurologist David Perlmutter in his book Grain Brain) So far I have no problems with plaque ,or blood flow, I have been avoiding wheat for over a dozen years since I read his book.

I 've been taking Atorvastatin for several years now for Cholesterol and the baby 81 mg aspirin. I never really had high cholesterol but doctor said best to take it regardless. It stays low. Atorvastatin doesn't cost me very much at $7 for 90 tablets.

I too, take a daily 81mg aspirin. To aid the coumadin, a typical regimen for most who've had strokes or Transient Ischemic Attacks(TIA). Which I went through five years ago. You know... that "mini" stroke I've often referred to. And EAR---- Atorvastatin as I'm sure you know, is the generic for LIPITOR. Which is why your expense is down. And Gluten is only a health threat to those who lack a tolerance for it, like having Celiac disease. I'm amused at some I know who think they're ahead of something by sourcing out "gluten free" food products. Sure, there's no harm in avoiding gluten when not necessary, but no benefit either. And some of them think they got it made by avoiding wheat products. But they still guzzle the beer, which, because a main ingredient in beer is malted barley, which also contains gluten, just causes them to be spinning their wheels. Whitefang

Not true, read the Grain Brain book by Dr David Perlmutter, gluten is the thing that makes the LDL Cholesterol into plaques. Like I said above gluten is a molecule like the old kids game "Jacks", in other words The gluten molecule is jagged and has pointy spines on it, that is what makes it sticky. Your LDL Cholesterol is a smooth molecule and, it does not stick to each other and is relatively easily passed through the blood stream once it meets up with LDL, it is like a marriage made in hell, it sticks to each other and also to others like itself, then it sticks to the inside of your veins and arteries and forms the plaques which causes vein disease, and illnesses like Alzheimer's. Just because the you like the taste or convenience in the use of wheat products, does not mean it is any good for you, in fact (not fiction) read the book, Dr Perlmutter is an expert in dementia, his father also was a doctor who suffered from dementia and that is why Dr Perlmutter specialized in neurology, and he has had many scientists study the matter using advanced scientific techniques. his work is backed up my modern science not just guesses. It is a hard fact. Wheat and gluten are a slow death before your natural time. Like it or not that is factual.

Sounds more to me like yet another doctor with a "chart medicine" agenda and a "one size fits all" belief in treatment. Assuming(of course) that EVERYBODY has the EXACT SAME reactions to EVERYTHING that EVERYONE ELSE does. Which, like it or not, is NOT factual. Let's look at EAR'S use of Atorvastatin.
It is an effective medicine for the treatment of high cholesterol. And, sadly, the "go to" drug for the "chart medicine" physician. It too, was prescribed to my wife for her triglyceride issue. However, after trying that and several other statins, it finally forced her doctor to BE a doctor and find a cholesterol treatment that didn't contain statins because it was also finally discovered it was STATINS that also caused her to have severe leg cramps. Luckily, a statin-free medicine called WELCHOL achieved lower cholesterol level without any side issues. However, it too, causes OTHER people other problems. Whitefang
