Ha! When I first saw the thread title, I thought it meant something like THIS: I was wondering what it had to do with musical instruments. Looks like an interesting book. Whitefang

Just havin' a bit o' fun with ya. As memory serves, it interested me as to the cyclical nature of the cheezy sounding FARFISA "portable-electric" organ. Keys player in a band I was in used one. Always hated the sound of it. And by late '70's punk and post-punk '80's it made a sort of comeback. And I'm wondering if the book makes any mention of the accordion-looking CORDOVOX..... You know... That accordion that sounds like an organ thing? I mean, DO you remember this? (ff to 1:26) Whitefang

The cordovox is mentioned, but there is no picture. There is a whole chapter on Farfisa. I even have a combo compact, in a closet. Hardly play it.
I know the song, but not who sang it, as it was before my time.

I know the song, but not who sang it, as it was before my time. Yeah, sure. Thanks for that! Gary Lewis, if you might not know already... Is the son of comedian/actor/director Jerry Lewis. The song was also co-written by AL KOOPER, known by most for playing organ on some Bob Dylan albums, and forming the bands THE BLUES PROJECT and BLOOD, SWEAT AND TEARS. Maybe before your time too, eh? anyway..... I've told the story before about an old man who owned a music store and who I knew personally, and when I was out of work I asked him if he needed any help. He told me I couldn't help him because I played guitar and( he said, pointing to some guy standing there in a white shirt and tie) "This guy knows just about everything about the CORDOVOX, and I'm dumping all my guitar and other instrument stock and dealing only with the Cordovox. This'll be the next big thing in popular music. The guitar is OUT!" Yep. less than a year later he was out of business. His space is a dentist office now. And that was back in '69. Whitefang

Whitefang Anytime my friend. I had heard of Blood, Sweat and tears! He should have stuck with guitars. Can’t be a rock star playing the accordion.

I agree. Old man Marshall( his last name) should have at least only carried the Cordovox as an option, and not be the only instrument he tried to sell. He also carried organs( including the Hammond B-3) but his biggest "movers" at the time were guitar strings, picks and such. Whitefang
