I mentioned my wife's older sister passing away in the wee hours May 2nd. And that it was her husband's birthday the same day? Well.... Later that day, a nephew organized that as many cars(25 showed up) park end to end in a huge arc in a large unused parking lot and another nephew(the first one's brother) drove the new widower/birthday boy around the inner arc while we all honked our horns and when the car he was in pulled into the middle of it, we all sang "happy birthday". We then gave him all our condolences and support pledging to be there for him. He was so overwhelmed he didn't know how to react, so he just buried his face in his hands. He and Anita just acknowledged their 63rd anniversary this March, while she was hospitalized with a severe neck injury that left her unable to move her arms. That accident at home happened in Jan. and she steadily declined since, losing her appetite and relapsing into bouts of catatonia until it ended this past Saturday. He really needed that scene to happen to help pull him out of a dark funk. Having lost my wife just year before last, I promised him it gets better. Stan is 85 years old now. Anita would have been 83 this July. To any who's read this, I appreciate your taking the time. Whitefang

Since Anita's fall, Stan's been staying with that nephew that drove him 'round that arc. His sciatica and other health issues won't make him going back to his house at all possible. And the nephew let us know that yesterday Stan started interacting with people again, and stopped spending all day staring out the window and into space. Later today I'm gonna swing by(I'm only 'bout a half-mile over) and say hello. Whitefang
