Yesterday it was pointed out to me that it marked the 100th anniversary of J. D. Short's birth December 26, 1902, Port Gibson, Mississippi (d.October 21, 1962 St. Louis, Missouri) and sent me this YouTube link. The interviewer is Sam Charters in 1962: This session didn't see the light of day on LP until 1973 when released by Sonet see: www.wirz.de/music/shortfrm.htmAt the foot of the Stefan's page there is a three part article about him by Bob Groom from 1976. Believe it or not it's still the standard reference on the life and times of this artist.

One does one's best, albeit three decades after the event. EDIT: If you go to www.wirz.de/music/magsfrm.htm and scroll down to the 'T's you can see the cover of the magazine it appeared in, with good old JD on front. In fact there's lots of interesting blues mag front cover there plus a few you can read the contents of too....including that of the world's first ever English language blues mag Blues Unlimited.
