Man, I had seen them the other night on TV. What a great sound. We all know that Derek can play, but to hear Susan play along side him almost lick for lick kind of reminds me of Les Paul and Mary Ford . Susan you go girl... My next CD purchase will be this band.

Man, I had seen them the other night on TV. What a great sound. We all know that Derek can play, but to hear Susan play along side him almost lick for lick kind of reminds me of Les Paul and Mary Ford . Susan you go girl... My next CD purchase will be this band. I think it was the same show they have been playing for about a month.... IT WAS CALLED LIVE FROM RED ROCKS !!!!! I;ll admiot DEREK TRUCKS is one GREAT BLUES AND SLIDE PLAYER but in saying that.... HE IS TERRIBLE as a person on stage.... he's like BILL WYMAN....A STATUE no emotion, and I do not know IS IT ME or if you play SLIDE IN EVERY SONG doesn;t it take away from when ya do play it for that added HMMPH..... PLEASE DO NOT get me wrong....as watching him I learned a lot of how to keep the Vibrato going and a few other tricks.... THE BAND was FANTASTIC though I don;t understand why they needed TWO DRUMMERS. Are they using SUSAN:S band and DEREK;s band together . It seems like they are no longer SOLO but together !!! By the way...... do you agreee and thik that if EVERY song has ALL SLIDEI n it doesn;t it lose something when ya get to a spot where ya know some slide would sound best? ? I can;t saya word about his playing for he is SPOT ON..... but he reminds me of our old BASS player we used to have him stand in the back by the PA so no-one saw hm...it did not matter. One night we had to rush out of the ROXY in the UK and our BAS player was able to stroll out and they thoughthe was just another guy. IF DEREK would get some STAGE PRESENCE or even act like he;s having FUN move breathe ANYTHING it would add a but to his playing. Anyone else notice this about him? JAMES BTW I still think he is GREAT !!!

Your 100% right on that James. No stage presents. Just move or smile. We'd all love to be where your at. And one doesn't have to play slide on 90% of the songs. I did notice that, when he wasn't playing slide, he picks notes with different fingers. Pretty neat how he does that. I also have noticed when he gives interviews he seems pretty shy, which might account for his stage presents. BUT still love his guitar playing. Just thought of something, If Derek could give me some guitar lessons, I'd be happy to show him a little stage presents ;D.
