It's finally time that I started digging Freddie King. I bought The Best of Freddie King: The Shelter Records Years and am thoroughly enjoying it. As a keyboard player, I noticed he has a really cool piano player on these sides. AllMusic.com lists him as Rev. Patrick Henderson. I didn't find terribly much about him online, although there's a Wikipedia entry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rev._Patrick_Henderson Does anyone here know anything about him?

I have the Woman Across The River Shelter LP (recorded Tia Juana, Ok, March 1973) but no mention of his being minus a limb at that stage. He didn't appear on any other FK Shelter sessions. Loss of limb must have come later. All his Shelter recordings from Feb 1972 to March 1973 were once on a Bear Family CD boxset (BCD 16979).

The Reverend's hand was surgically reattached. see here: tinyurl.com/mv3ye65

For this Best of album, Allmusic lists Rev. Patrick Henderson as the piano player, and no other keyboard players at all. What do you think of his Shelter recordings?

Here's the entire FK Shelter recording sessions, such as they are. Afraid PDFing has lost the layout but hope understandable.

I'll go through the titles later and see how the Best of corresponds to these. It looks like some of the piano was or might be Leon Russell. It will be interesting to see which players are which. P.S. I keep reading "FKingShelterSessions" as something completely different than you meant.

Then I remembered I have a friend near Dallas that played with Freddie King, and asked him.
I've made a friend request of Lynn and will ask him when he accepts.
