I believe BLJ was accompanied by Sylvester Weaver on some early recordings? Help Alan, am I nuts? I wouldn't say "nuts", just slightly off kilter. His only role as accompanist was with the Paramount All Stars. Weaver did accompany Walter Beasley, E.J. Coleman, Helen Humes, Virginia Liston and Sara Martin. There was a superb issue of Living Blues back in the dark ages which featured Sylvester Weaver's personal Scrapbook. This had been located by Paul Garon. Many of the vintage photos contained this are all over the place with no credit or provence cited. (the above photo on the Document CD is a case in point!

Thanks Alan. Since Sylvester recorded Guitar Blues in or about 1923 on OKEH and BLJ moved to OKEH in or about 1925, I thought perhaps there was a more direct link. I guess we can assume that BLJ heard some of Sylvester's recordings on OKEH. I know Bob Wills (Of Texas Swing Music) covered this in 1930.
