For me? Rolling Stones. There are a lot of other bands I love, but some of them might be considered Blues more than Rock. But the Stones have always been there from the beginning when I first started listening to rock music and the one band I've always come back to as my tastes change and evolve.

I remember how it happened. My cousin who lived in NYC used to get dragged out to Long Island every summer when we were kids, close to where I lived. He introduced me to a lot of rock music. One summer, he introduced me to KISS. They were my favorite band for a year. Then he introduced me to the Stones. They became my favorite band, and that one stuck. I still admit to enjoying KISS' stuff once in a while, but they ain't the Stones. The Stones led me to nearly every other thing I've liked since, whether it be their contemporaries, the bands they influenced, or the blues they were inspired by.

Yeah, even just without just Keith, they weren't the same. Nobody could (nor would) play like Keith did.
In the DVD edition of The Kids Are Alright, one of the bonus features is the Ox Cam, where some of the performances focus just on Entwistle. It's pretty cool.

Without Keith and John - The Who is not the samme. No doubt, but The Who were still worth seeing circa late 70's/early 80's. I was able to attend 3 shows back then and they were some of the best shows I ever saw. One of those shows was in front of 72,000 people at Shea Stadium in New York.

All of the folks listed above certainly are candidates for the Best Band of All Time........but for me, my favorite rock and roll group was Mountain.......something about a cow bell, Leslie West's slaughter of the lyrics (never could understand what he sang), and the overall groove of Mississippi Queen......that, right there, was rock and roll to this old, wore-out redneck.
One my favorite entertainers/singers of all times (in addition to Paul Rodgers) was Bryan Adams. I always thought he had a good rock voice.....but he also was a "right fair" bass player. Check this out......

I agree Steven...great Rock and roll.
How about the "Killer" - Jerry Lee. Who can top his great Boogie Piano?

First to come to mind seeing the question are the Rolling Stones but mainly like the earlier versions. Some of the later years songs after Exile on Main Street are fine also.
ZZ Top and Tom Petty & Heartbreakers next close.
