So, who is on your current must see live list? The band or musician you would do anything / spend anything to experience live?
(And who do you regret you'll never be able to see live?)

It is my eternal regret that I never managed to see RL Burnside play live.

Realistic list for the future: Will be seeing Scott Hamilton in Portsmouth (UK) in January and Joe Magnarelli and Dmitry Baevsky in Southport in February.
Wish list for the future: Would love to catch these sometime: Harry Allen, Grant Stewart, Kenny Washington, Joey DeFrancesco.
Of today's people I have managed to see: Eric Alexander, Jim Rotondi, Jerry Bergonzi, Pat Martino, Phil Woods, Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Lee Konitz.
Of the sadly departed I saw: Hines, Teagarden, Basie, Ellington, Hodges, Ben Webster, Hampton, Herman, Dizzy, Monk, Max, Blakey, Philly, Klook, Cannonball, Kirk, Horace, Dexter, Hank, Gil Evans, Bill Evans, Lee Morgan ...
Those I most wish I'd seen: Bird, Miles,Trane.

It is my eternal regret that I never managed to see RL Burnside play live. I've met R.L. and was present during a recording/jam-session in Holly Springs, Mississippi back in 1996. Even got to jam a little myself. To say R.L. was "very colorful" is a vast understatement! [laughing]

[laughing] I've told this story before, but I did watch a jam session at a little catfish joint just outside Holly Springs with R.L.B. and John Lee Hooker one afternoon back in the 60s. Even learned how to turn my "red eye" (beer and tomato juice) into a bloody mutherf***er. [laughing] Also got a little first hand lesson in Boom Boom Boom.

The Rebirth Brass Band would be pretty high up on my 'need to see' list.
Not sure who else - I've got much better at ticking people off in recent years, and did a long drive to make sure I caught T-Model Ford on what turned out to be his last tour.

The Rebirth Brass Band would be pretty high up on my 'need to see' list. Especially if it means a return trip to New Orleans! I'm not really sure who's on mine - there's plenty of acts I wouldn't mind seeing live, people I listen to a lot (The Civil Wars, Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, Nick Cave) but they've all toured locally in the last few years and I'm not sought out tickets. Even when Eels played nearby I couldn't muster enthusiasm to sort out tickets, and I didn't think I would ever pass up an opportunity to see The Eels - but I've not been a big fan of some of his later work. I've think I've often been disappointed by bigger gigs in the past I'm happy to find random, lesser known acts to go see then be let down again. The best gigs I've been too in recent years have been in smaller venues. I would like to see The Devil Makes Three, and I very much enjoyed last years C2C festival, but there's no one I can think of I must see live, but I'm always happy to be taken to interesting gigs.
