We don't seem to give a lot of credit to Jerry Lee Lewis for what he brought to Rock and Roll. While his personal life may have been questionable, even though I found him funny and humble for the most part, some thought he was a little over the top. His cousins - Jimmy Swaggert and Mickey Gilley were a little more grounded I suppose, but all three are tremendous showmen - each in his own right. I remember Jerry Lee during his rise to fame with Sun all the way to those smoky nights at the Vapors club on Brooks Road in Memphis. But there is no doubt - Jerry Lee could pound the ivories...and even though he may have added a little showmanship, his music is strictly Barrelhouse right out of the Texas Saloons. www.bu.edu/agni/poetry/online/2008/rogers.html

Keyboard magazine is supposed to have an upcoming interview with him. That should be interesting, especially if they also post a video.
