OK, I went for Clarksdale, MS because while I enjoy Muddy Waters as much as the next guy, I really have a great love for the pre-war styles (as some of you may have noticed from my examples in the "What Are listening to in blues" thread). Delta, Mississippi hill country, Piedmont, Downhome and so on is what really gets me the most.

It seems that the home of Lightnin' Hopkins, Albert Collins, Johnny "Guitar" Watson, Joe Hughes, Johnny Copeland, Peacock Records, Gold Star/SugarHill Studios, and many others is missing from that list...

Dammmmmmmmmmmmmmm! Sorry guys, but for some reason we can't change a poll once it has been voted... Guess "Other" will get lots of hits.

I'm not sure Liverpool & London really count as the same place either - I know 230 miles isn't far by American standards, but it's pretty significant over here...
Also I lived in Liverpool for 3 years & I don't really remember there being any kind of blues scene at all, although there seemed to be plenty of work if you wanted to play Beatles & Herman's Hermits covers.
In my experience there seems to be decent scenes in Nottingham, Leeds & Manchester, & in London if you know where to look.
