He mentions Little Walter as being the one that started the use of amplified harmonica and that harmonica players today still want to get that sound without progressing into new territory of amplified use of the harmonica. One of the standing jokes is: how many harmonica players does it take to change a light bulb? 3; one to do it and 2 arguing how Little Walter would do it. Jason Ricci is one that makes full use of modern tecnology in his harmonica playing. He has an amazing pedal board that he uses. Also Richard Hunter has really progressed in this area too.

Yeah, I'm sure Little Walter did not have a pedal board. I think James thought I was talking about Little Walter when I was mentioning the pedal board that Jason Ricci uses.

I read that LW wouldn't record in the studio without his favorite sound man. There was a discussion a while back as to how LW played a particular part. Steve Guyger settled that by confirming that LW used a slide harp and he had a picture showing LW using the slide harp. I guess some LW worshipers were crushed.
