Well, the fingers just don't work anymore. Guitars are not being used. The lap steel is literally rusting.
. My keyboard is wasting away....Fingers won't bend on either hand so any fills, intros outros are out of the question.
Gonna give everything away to my children.

Sorry to see this, Jim. That's gotta be tough when it has been so much of your life.

Yeah, thanks Joe.. Here's why I finally decided to give up
I finally got enough strength to go downstairs and what I found in my little music room was so devastating. I had strung my three remaining guitars with new strings just before I had to go in the hospital last Nov. All three had rusted or corroded strings. Mold was growing on the frets and fingerboard. My keyboard was molded and even my harps were rusting and molding. My original fender tweed was beginning to mold. The humidity was out of control I guess.
When I can't take proper care of my gear anymore, it's time to let go. Some of my family members play guitar or piano. I decided to give them the instruments so at least they could take care of them.
Same with some of my guns and fishing gear. I found them in bad shape as well. I know I'll never be able to hunt or fish again, so it's time for people who will use and care for them to have them.
I can always visit my stuff at my family's house.

That's bad news Jim, but it eventually comes to all of us. You are secure and logical enough to accept what life has dealt you and go on. After I had cancer surgery a couple years ago I had to give up some things that I really like doing, but we do what we have to do.

I'm sure you don't need this advice, but I hope you keep doing something that keeps you happy, Jim.

I'm sure you don't need this advice, but I hope you keep doing something that keeps you happy, Jim. Someone on MPF suggested "Band in a Box". Looks like a fair alternative to actually playing.
