Steve was session guitatist at Stax Records back in the early years. Saw a great interview today where Steve talked about losing his best friend Otis Redding on this date. He was asked to put the lead guitar track down on "Dock of the Bay" just before Redding took off on the ill fated flight

I have the first volume of the Stax/Volt box set, which covers 1959-1968. It changed me. That was some of the most amazing music ever made, IMNSHO, and the backing band of Cropper, Dunn, Al Jackson, Booker, plus the various horns which ended up being primarily Jackson and Love was blow-you-away good.
