(I posted this on Modern Blues Harmonica last week. Jim asked me to say something here about a fine man and supporter of the blues for longer than some of us have been on the planet.)
Just got the news, Sonny Payne, of KFFA radio in Helena Arkansas, has passed. Age 92. Hosted King Biscuit Time radio since 1951. Longest running blues radio show ever anywhere.
About 10 years ago Jo and I popped in at the station for a visit and he had a cancellation, so we got to be his guests!
He played a couple of cuts from our first (unofficial) CD, Back Porch Blues, and was a very gracious host with a great sense of humor.
We had hoped to get back to visit with him again but something always came up.
Moment of silence for A REAL BLUES SUPPORTER please.
