A little fun ditty
The T-Bird Trade
Jim Pate (October 27, 2018)
Verse 1
Drove to the dealership in my SUV
Ready to trade for a new one, see
Looking around, we couldn't agree
Until I saw that antique car that he…
Was driving.
Verse 2
It was a little red T-bird, a fifty five
White top convertible, hard one inside
Black leather seats and overdrive .
Four on the floor made me feel alive.
I wanted it
Verse 3
I ask the salesman could I take it for a spin
Just around the block as I gave him a grin
I'll be back in just a minute or two and then
I’ll make up my mind about giving in
And trading
Verse 4
The salesman thought about the commission he’d get
If I traded for the new SUV so he let
Me take his T-bird out but said don't forget
About the great deal I was about to get
On the SUV
Verse 5
So I gave him a little folded up note
Just getting permission, something I wrote
To take the little TBird out on the road
Should I get stopped or trouble you know
Just sign it
Verse 6
As I left the salesman and my old SUV
Headed straight down to the DMV
With the Bill of Sale he had signed for me
Trading his car for my old SUV
Evil grin
The morale to my story is plain to see
What's bad for you can be good for me
So you'd better beware and really read
Cause it's seller beware if you let it be
I'm happy
