So I had to test gravity recently and I discovered that it does still work. Took a fall and hit my left wrist pretty hard on a hard surface. Result was a chip fracture.
It hurt like the dickens until we got it splinted and I took some Motrin. I'm in a splint for 4 to 6 weeks. Follow up with ortho in 2 weeks. I don't know how much this will affect music, I'm working my little job light duty for now though. Hope to be able to play harp and sing again soon.
Life surely comes at ya.

Sorry to read that. Watch out for that ground!
Hope you're healed up and ready to go soon.

I think it's a relatively minor break. Pain is minimal and since Jo is allowed to help me with my duties on the job today was pretty smooth. Tonight we're going to play a few songs. The splint will act as a natural harmonica mute!

HA! Way to turn a negative into a positive! You still haven't elaborated on how you were testing gravity or exactly why you felt compelled to test it. One would think the fact you're not floating out into space would have been proof enough that it still works. But anyway, hope you heal fast and get back to where you were. Whitefang

Actually my feet got tangled in a tight space and went out from under me. In the past when I've dropped something I've referred to it as a gravity test.
It was suggested that I find the biggest condom I could, to wear over the wrapping and keep it clean and dry. Do you know how many varieties of condom there are out there? I opted for a large vinyl throw away glove, works fine.

Been many a moon since I've used one( or needed to) so far as I know, they're all "One size fits all". But I gotta ask.... If you DID use one of those, what WOULD you put in the "reservoir tip"? Whitefang

I think you could guess...…. Actually I found some XL size vinyl gloves, so they fit on the splint well.

HA! OK.... One thing my wife would insist on whenever she was in a hospital, would be for me to fit as many of those Nitrile gloves in boxes on the walls of each hospital room in my jacket/coat pocket as possible. She'd use them( and more towards the last few years, me) to rub whichever analgesic she was using into her legs. She endured diabetic peripheral neuropathy for years. And some of those balms, especially the ones with 16% menthol, would be hard to wash off your hands. She's been gone since last Dec., but I still have a few pairs 'round here. Whitefang

Those and the disposable toilet wand are two of the greatest inventions of the third millennium.

HEY! Don't forget that PAPER too, that helped people be able to use those SEARS catalogs as they were intended. Whitefang

Yeah, that paper... dates a bit further back than the other items....

Sure, but the items you mentioned are NO substitute for it! Y'know, it wasn't the TOILET I was talkin' about cleaning! And you really shouldn't flush those gloves! Whitefang

Another week and I go to a smaller brace and begin home therapy stretches. 2 weeks later follow up with the ortho doc. Most of the time it does not hurt. I do favor that hand a lot and keep it braced so it will heal well.
We have an amped gig the 17th of this month which I am hoping to get some help moving stuff to and from the gig. I can do setup and teardown ok I think.
