So some things became apparent a week ago about where we were living and I was working. Suddenly it was no longer a place we wanted to be. As soon as possible I made new arrangements and we set our sights on another place to stay and I could work for rent. Unfortunately I had my signals crossed and the place we were supposed to go yesterday turned out to be not a fit for us at all. We discovered this after we'd stowed things and hitched up but before we'd made the hour trip north.
I'd had another offer last week which I'd turned down. Yesterday about noon I called that gal back and with hat in hand asked if I could still work for her there. It took a while but she called back and said come on ahead! So we hauled out and got here, just outside of Fredericksburg. It was a busy day. Moving always is. We're settled in and I'm about to go interview and get my bearings.
Jo says I could fall backward into a septic rank and come out with roses in one hand and money in the other. I had sent out a few feelers last week looking for the next gig and got 2 offers within a couple of days. Granted I got mixed up on the one but somehow I recovered.
The saga is not over. But is it ever?

Six weeks on and a lot is different. We found another place about an hour north and east, in Fredericksburg, where I could work off rent. Easy gig. Speaking of gigs of course C19 dissolved our gigs at least for this spring. So recently I got reassured that I have my next job, about 1500 miles north and east. In a week we'll be hooked and hauling to Lake Erie! We are not sure if there will be much music opportunity but we hope so. That area is all RV parks and resort-y businesses. Lots of summer activity in normal times and I think we will see vacationers this summer there.
Our plan is to come back here in November and stay for the next season, until next spring. I am hoping we can get some gigs in the Hill Country in the fall or if not then, next spring. This park here does music and we're looking to get hired here as well as renew dates with the venues we'd booked a couple of months ago. And as well, there are dozens of wineries, restaurants, and road houses in this area that I'm confident some of them will survive this latest trial we are all going through.
So that's the latest.

The Lake Erie deal sounds interesting. I was only there on the PA side once at Erie, PA but get updates here and there on history and club/bar/ restaurant places. Recently there was a series on discovered and identified Lake Erie ship wrecks. Needless to say there have been many over several hundred years. Lake Erie

Earle, we'll be just north of Sandusky at Marble Head. Very vacation-y usually, no idea how it will be this season. It's a short season, Memorial Day through Labor day. But nice to get out of this already 85-90 days here. And hopefully some great fishing! We plan to return here to Texas in September and maybe pick up the gigs we lost last month. Plus add some. There is one case of C19 in this county to date. Very few in Marble Head as well.
But here's what I want to know Earl- are you getting anywhere with the Tom Petty song?

Jbone, Probably by memorial day things will be pretty close back to normal at Marble Head. Being a resort there should be enough room for distancing and being near that much water should be a plus.
On the Tom Petty song, "Mary Jane's Last Dance", yes. I got the part down pretty well and altering it a bit where that happens. Now that you mentioned it has been weeks since playing it so need to go over it again and review when it occurs. I'll watch this youtube live video again as Scott plays the part. The other 4 guys and I hadn't had a chance to get together even first time with the Corona. Three are guys that live near are from a CL add I posted for a casual band which is mainly to play, work out tunes and maybe play occasionally at places we want to. It is only serious in wanting to play and do it well. We are done with the late night bar/club stuff.

Age, ain't it grand! We prefer to play like 7 to 9 and then get home for ice cream and Conan!
We just started working on David Bowie's Heroes. 1st position in D. Me and my big mouth! But cool song. Since I'm singing I can't do much with fills but an intro and a solo will be a fit I think.
I touched base with the places who had to cancel our shows in recent times and 4 out of 5 want us to get in touch in September!
I never thought about CL for band stuff. If I ever need it I'll check it out.

Luck! Last time I had that wheel off I managed to drop it on the zirk fitting/dust cover, which cracked the metal little housing. I took everything off and checked to make sure the rear seal was still good and the rear bearing as well, which they were. Repacked the front bearing. Got a new cover for $2.37. Got it back together with new grease. Zirks are nice. Wheels all torqued, ready to roll in the morning. Illinois we hope. Marble Head by the 8th.

We're here. Marblehead Ohio. Cold as winter in Texas! High of 43 for today has already gone by. Overnight freeze maybe 2 nights. I still need to move the rig onto the right site after power is turned on. Of course the inflow line of the commode picks now to clog up. 16 months no problem until the coldest day in recent memory. Truck still hooked to trailer so no trip to the hardware store for whatever.
May just get back in bed...

Well jbone,100* plus here every day from now on,it gets to 120* in late June, and lays at 110* to 115* every day thereafter. I did stay one summer in my Jayco travel trailer here, that did not happen a second summer. We own the lot in an upscale RV/mobile home park, so we bought a Park Model mobile home, the ones that you often see in RV Parks,400 SQ feet. In the RV I cold not get it down under 95* in the day time with only one AC unit. In the park model we can get it down to whatever we want it to be within reason.
