A mix of talent and some more popularity but it's a Rolling Stone thing. Not included; Jerry Jemmott, Wilton Felder, Jim Fielder, Harvey Brooks, Bob Babbit, Chuck Rainy or Johnny B Gayden. I guess they could have done a top 75. Top 50 Bassists - Rolling Stone

Several of them have been mentioned in the "Aces of Bass" thread, but too, some weren't on the Rolling Stone list. One notable, NEILS-HENNING ORSTED-PEDERSEN. And there were a few I've never heard of from bands I've also never heard of... So your popularity point is taken. Whitefang
