"Watchtower's" a bit of a stretch, but your second one is on the money. So let's find a couple or so more similarities in different tunes, and not specifically those "Taurus", "Stairway" etc. sound alikes. Sorta like--- Incidentally, back in "the day", these were two of my favorite tunes! Whitefang

They all seem to bleed from Davy Graham's Anji.....

But then, maybe Graham's "Anji" was from some other bleeding? For instance, the first addition here to the last two I posted---- But, does that "Big Boss Man" opening sound familiar?

They all seem to bleed from Davy Graham's Anji..... Well, I missed the time limit to edit, But in mentioning "Anji"( written in '61 but not released until '62) you have to consider The similarity to The Venture's "Walk Don't Run", recorded and released in '60, which was a cover of this tune written and recorded in 1954. Of course it is.....Probably famous from troubadour days...I think, in our semi-modern days, Anji was the model....let's add the into from "Crazy on You" .....Nancy said it was a direct result from that song...

"Original version" of what? And AM? I'm missing something here.... We seem to be jumping around songs here. "Crazy On You".... Had to go back and listen to see what you meant. Sure, the acoustic fingerstyle work it opens with does sho' 'nuff resembles "Anji", But notice too, when the band jumps in a couple minutes later, the chart kinda follows "All Along The Watchtower". Let's give anyone peeking in some examples of what we mean.... First--- ( and the first version of the tune I've ever heard) Then----- And finally---- (and listen closely ) Kinda makes the big too-doo over George Harrison's "My Sweet Lord" and The Chiffon's "He's So Fine" look like small potatoes, eh? OH! And I seemed(and way too late) to recall a small discussion me and a couple of buddies had concerning whether or not, due to the OP's "similarity" reference, that JOE WALSH'S "Rocky Mountain Way" could or could not be considered a bona fide blues tune. Hear what we mean--------- (53 seconds in) Heard that riff in a few dozen different blues tunes. So I say "yes". Whitefang

Anyway..... To switch gears this time of year, and not wanting to start a whole new thread, THIS is one of my favorite Christmas tunes. At least, my favorite version of it! Whitefang
