So about 4 years ago, while we still lived in the house in Arkansas, we upgraded from the very small old Fender Passport p.a., to a brand new Yamaha. It's a 275 watt 4 channel head which locks into the back of one speaker for transport while the cables store in back of the other speaker. 4 inputs, vocal and instrument jacks, effects, channel and overall EQ's, several bells and whistles. Came with a mic I think, but we opted for Shure Beta58's. Speaker stands were included too.
About the third time I took it to a gig and set up, the latch on the cable storage failed. Duct tape is working on that. About 2 1/2 years ago I tipped over the speaker with the p.a. head mounted in back for transport and knocked a mounting lug loose. This lug is one of two that mount the head to its own mic stand for convenience. Not realizing it was loose inside the case I plugged in the unit and fired it up to be sure all was well. Which it was not. A short took it out and I found a guy who worked on TV's and other old school electronics and he got things back to working condition. Until recently when that same lug came loose again!
Today I got the head out and began working to get the lug out of the inside of the case. Only took about an hour and a dozen screws removed! The guy had done a decent job but to me the design/manufacture was flawed. His JB weld fix was intact but the whole thing came loose. I was lucky it eventually fell out of the case today, before I got in way over my head on taking things apart!
I'm not planning to get the lug replaced, it's one of 2 and one should suffice.

Channel 2 seems to have become weak, I'm not sure if the first repair guy missed a component when he was fixing the short, or if it's a quality issues with the original build from Yamaha. It's livable but these small things like latches failing, speaks to current quality I think. With the failed latch and the lug which came out, I'm a bit disappointed with this p.a. It does the job but these little issues are annoying when I have lots more to think about on gig day.
This is likely the last p.a. I'm going to buy and use so I'm going to live with the small shortcomings with it. But I do remember the old Peavey p.a.'s that you could just about run over with a tank, and they would still perform!
