I'm reading another thread on another forum about the pros and cons of splitting the coils on humbucker pickups on a telecaster. (Why have humbuckers on a Tele???) How do you feel about splitting the coils on a humbucker vs a P90? I'd rather just have a P-90...

I think the guitar would sound a whole lot better if he'd have tuned it. But to me, the whole point of a Tele is that it is a Tele. Trying to make iut into somethining else seems a bit odd. But each to his own.

I have a Gibson L6 Special w/ DiMarzio SD Dual Sound pickups and tapped w/ 2 mini switches. It is a classic mid-late '70s mod job done prior to my buying. It really added versatility in sound. The tapped positions were kind of DeArmond single coil like but still noise cancelling. I used the tapped and full combinations a lot early '80s up into mid '90s. In process of some restoration of Grover tuners now. It has been in storage in basement and tuners froze up. It is blond, a thick slab RW Brazilian fingerboard, strings thru body mounting and neck profile like J200 or Gibson jazz guitar. Probably will sell it later on.
