Anyone here own or have played one of Mr. Allen's models? I almost bought and bid on an Encore on E-Bay but at last decided to just stick with my Fenders, etc. Still if I had a good reason to go "uptown" amp $$$$wise would probably look at the Encore or Sweet Spot. allenamps.com/

Just took a look at their models. Good looking range and specs, but seems a little pricey for a 35w combo with a 1x12 cab. I'd have to plug in and run it thru it's paces first.

Yeah they do look good and I am sure are of a very good quality but they are a bit expensive- at least they seem so to me. When my ship comes in maybe.

Yeah pricy for sure but pretty much right in there with similar hand wired ptp amp builders. The Fender Custom Shop EC Tweeds are even higher. Used Allens usually sell for 1/2 or so of original list in ex condition.

The Encore and Sweet Spot have the Brown-era type tube tremolo and some models have reverbs with more controls like the vintage Fender reverb tank. The raw control acts as mid range to a point then bypasses the tone circuit completely.

I know and was thinking or stinking I will sell off a some amps and then just zero in on one of the Allens that will do all and not be too heavy weight size wise. Then I thought well I could do that but loose a channel and have been using an A/B switch box to switch channels and volume/tone settings so sort of got reluctant. It isn't that I need 2 channels really but kind of like that with the A/B box that has pre-amps that go -6db to 0 or up to boost + 6 DB on either channel.
Think a person playing out more in a larger venue could benefit from having the Allen along with a British sounding amplifier. That or just a straight ahead player in any style.
