Mine is a tossup between Queen (John Deacon) - Another One Bites the Dust
or The Lemon Song - Led Zeppelin (John Paul Jones)

Yes, indeed, on The Lemon Song / Killing Floor.
Some of the most effective bass lines are the simplest ones. One song that comes to mind is Johnnie Taylor's Disco Lady. That song was basically nothing more than a simple bass line and vocals. But the bass line was extremely catchy and became massively popular. It still sounds fresh to me after so many years and hearing it 1000s of times.
James Brown and Fela Kuti lived by great bass lines. It is hard to choose.

Brings up another thought - just what makes up a good bass line in the genre of music you enjoy? Roots and fifths (Root, 3rd, 5th, 3rd) is about as much as you need, but if you add a few chromatic runs to the next chord gives you everything you need for most Country songs. For those beginning, this is a pretty good beginner lesson: www.studybass.com/lessons/common-bass-patterns/roots-and-fifths/exercises/
