You first started playing guitar? And when you first realized you were pretty good. For me, I began playing when I was around 10 years of age...after playing a ukulele first for about 2 years. I began with the chord book that came with my Harmony, but quickly began to get whatever advice and lessons from whomever would help me out. First my cousin who was a good flat picker and taught me old country standards like wildwood flower. Then, my neighbor, Sam McGee who got me interested in fingerstyle. After a couple of years, I began to believe I was a fair guitar picker. Then I met Chester and I quickly realized I had a lot to learn. So, I studied his every move, but could never quite get his style down. Then along came Rock and Roll (Or rather Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, et al) came along and I began to try my hand at Rockabilly...again, not very good but "passable". I studied Scotty Moore, Carl Perkins, Luther Perkins, and a little of Doc Watson but again, couldn't master their styles either. So I finally just tried to play like myself, and you know what - I realized I was actually pretty good...in my own style! But it has taken the better part of 70 years.!

Started at around 15 (i'd tried at 11 or 12 but my hands were not big enough). I don't consider myself to be good-that is not self deprecation, I just know that compared to some of the guys I know, I am very very run of the mill. But I know a lot of songs and that gets me by.
