While I never was a huge fan, the only release I own presently is the classic "Time Out", his passing makes me curious as to his other releases. I've heard "Live At Carnegie Hall" may be a good one? R.I.P. Mr. Brubeck.

Rest in Peace, Dave, and thanks for all you gave to music and to us. What an incredible talent you were blessed with.
Footnote: Our band has been rehearsing a jazz arrangement that our keyboardist put together for "What Child Is This?" and it is called "What 5 Is This?" Yes, it's in 5/4 (but parts of it are also in 3/4), and we'll be doing it next weekend. Kinda sadly ironic that Brubeck passed on this same week as we've been playing a tune inspired by him.

My Dad was a huge jazz fan and Dave Brubeck was one of his favourites. Maybe my dad will get to meet him now! RIP Dave.

One day, Brubeck heard a knock on his hotel door. He opened it to find Ellington, smiling and holding several copies of Time magazine. Brubeck was on the cover. His heart sank. Ellington was his friend. He knew that 'Time' had also been interviewing Ellington, and Brubeck thought the jazz composer deserved the honor over him. "I wanted to be on the cover after Duke," Brubeck told the narrator in Ken Burns' epic documentary on jazz. "The worst thing that could have happened to me was that I was there before Duke, and he was delivering the news to me."
