Eagles Tour Will Feature Founding Guitarist Bernie Leadon Hasn't toured with the band since 1975 By Andy Greene July 5, 2013 9:50 PM ET The Eagles kick off their History of the Eagles world tour Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky, and Don Henley has confirmed reports that former guitarist Bernie Leadon will be joining them. "Bernie Leadon is definitely on this tour," he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Randy Meisner, if he were healthy and willing, might have been included, too, but his current health will not permit. We are all wishing him well." Meisner, the group's original bassist and lead singer of their 1975 hit "Take It to the Limit," is still recovering from a choking incident earlier this year. "Randy was at home when something he was eating obstructed his breathing and he lost consciousness," Poco's Rusty Young wrote in an online note to fans in April. "[His wife] Lana rushed him to the emergency room where he got immediate care. Things are going to be a little rough for Randy for a while, but his doctors are optimistic he’ll recover from this incident. If you can, say a little prayer or just send love Randy’s way." I have never seen them live but would very much like to. I remember them from when i was at school and we used to play their records in the common room.

Yeah Jim- that was one of those instant classics. As soon as I heard it I just knew it was something special.

I liked the Bernie Leadon period. Nothing against Joe Walsh though- I already liked him in his own right.

Man stabbed for playing too much Eagles music..........
NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Eagles are one of the most popular and successful rock bands of all time. But not everyone's a fan, especially a South Carolina woman. She apparently did not have a 'Peaceful Easy Feeling" when her roommate refused to turn down the Eagles' music he was listening to. So, police say she decided to attack him with a knife. According to the Charleston County Sheriff's arrest report, 54-year-old Vernett Bader has been charged with criminal domestic violence for slashing the victim with a 14-inch serrated bread knife. WTIV reports that after the man was able to wrestle that knife out of Bader's hands, she ran off to find another one. That's when he decided it would be best to lock himself in the bathroom until things calmed down. When police arrived at the scene they reported finding the victim with several cuts on his arms and hands. Bader was arrested and taken to a detention center. The Eagles music may have set Bader off, but there are probably some other contributing factors. Investigators say Bader and the victim used to date, but still lived together. And officers did note that everyone involved was intoxicated at the time. It's apparent that combining the Eagles music with alcohol and a bad relationship made Bader 'Take it to the Limit' ... and beyond. Here is the article.

Give me 50 Cent rather than Hotel California. Not that the song is so terrible, but I am absolutely sick to death of it. Living abroad for 6 years in various places, I can't believe how often it is played, and usually not very well. I formed a blues band while in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and we were once fired on the spot from a club after refusing a request of an "important" client to play Hotel California. I would be very happy if I never hear that song again. So that woman was probably going through genuine misery. He had it on repeat! Don't put a knife in my hand in a similar situation...

Muddy, I guess I can understand that - though I feel that guitar solo remains one of the historical performances of all time...
Guess that just goes to prove what my Grandaddy use to say, "If everyone liked the same thing I do, they'd be married to my wife". smiley-laughing024
How about requests for Freebird??? barmy

How about requests for Freebird??? barmy smiley-laughing024 Freebird is one of the few tunes I actually bother to change the station if it comes on the radio! Always one of the main favorites of drunks at a gig (and beginning-slide or non-slide guitar players). One of the most monotonous, repetative, whiney tunes I can think of! Second to the last band I was in, our other guitar player put together a decent tune he called "Freebird on the Stairway to Heaven." (The band broke up before he'd completed his "Freebird with Tears on the Stairway to Heaven!") Drunks, ya gotta love 'em! (Cause they're good tippers and send up rounds for the band! smiley-laughing024

We have to play SHA ( I don't need to spell it out do I?) and that sometimes starts the "freebird" shouts. I have said to the guys that we should just refuse to play it but they never listen.

I saw the band at Thompson Boling arena last November, but made the mistaken assumption that I was merely buying a ticket for a nostalgia act...indeed, with remixes and stellar improvisational work, especially by Walsh - and more particularly with regard to some of his solo staples (esp. Funk 49 and Rocky Mtn. Way), the Eagles proved that they are still a kick ass (2nd time today I've employed that particularly poetic adjective), living, breathing rocknroll band!/kate

In my opinion, the Eagles are timeless...one of my favorite all time bands.
