With all of the hullabaloo about endangered species woods, what brand and model guitar would you buy today? Consider both Acoustic and Electric.
For example, given the quality issues with Gibson, would you recommend someone buy a new Gibson? Or what about the discussion about guitars made in Mexico, China, Korea. Would you consider one of these suitable for purchase?
We can always go to boutique luthiers like Wayne Henderson, or Lowden or Gallagher but would you think this is the right thing for a newbie to do?
Just curious!! smiley-eatdrink004

If price was no problem would look and try one of the Collins models acoustic or electric. www.collingsguitars.com/electrics.htmlOn the lesser expensive side would look at Fret Tech by Rob DiStefano. I actually have one of his builds that is like a Nocaster but with some modern enhancements. Great guitar especially for $450. www.frettech.com/

I think that there is a terrific range of guitars avaialable now from all kinds of makers- guitars made all over the place and I think the beginner has never had it so good. As for me, if I were in the market for a new guitar now and I had a few quid to spare, I might go for a custom build. A friend of mine: www.felineguitars.com/gallery/guitars.htmlor maybe one of these : www.bravewoodguitars.co.uk/index.htmlA good friend of mine has two Bravewoods- a "t" type and an "S" type and they are stunningly good.
