How do you store your guitar for extended periods of time? (Over 30 days).
I always remove the tension on the strings, wipe down the fretboard, and store the guitar in it's hard case.
NEVER leave it on a stand...
What about you? Am I too paranoid?

I keep my in the hard case. Built a room to store the ones I'm not playing. Never take off any tension. Clean and replace stings at least once a year.

Mine are in use a lot so I don't have this issue. The closest I came was with my old Precision bass which was left in its case untouched for 6 or 7 years. This hadn't been intended and so it was strung and tuned to pitch. When I eventually got it out to play, it was fine and still in tune from the last gig- well it was slightly flat but it was in tune with itself. The only thing I do with my Gibson 339 is to leave the toggle switch in the middle position whenever I put it in the case.

All of mine are on hangers and displayed. All of the players are in tune, but I do tune down the wall hangers and investment guitars.

Same here for longer or unknown storage time. Usually de-tune 1 full step. A couple are on stands but in gig bags. I slip a trash bag over 1 acoustic on a stand in bedroom mainly to keep lint off of it.

I never store it. I've learned that if I put it in the case it never gets played.

It is really good to oil/lube the tuners, spray clean the pots and switches moving those back and forth. Even in an ideal environment all the above can tighten or get other issues.

I keep mine in the case. I have another one that is setting in the bedroom always ready to grab.

Six on wall hangers, five on Hercules Auto-Grab stands. The stragglers are cocooned in their respective cases. You do have to watch out for "protective" rubber on stands that gas off and cattle-truck your guitar's finish. Having them at arm's length ensures they get played frequently. That wouldn't happen if they were all in cases. Big exception- solid timber construction acoustics (Deffo in cases) but no humidity problems here that would encourage the use of those Planet Waves humidifiers.
