Cole Porter's compositions make most of my most favorite music. Agreed! Where would music be without Begin The Beguine and Night and Day et al?

I'm fairly new to the world of jazz and the Great American Songbook, but especially as a piano player, what I get a kick out of is that there are always surprises in his tunes melodically. They're really nice touches of dissonance, just enough to catch your ear without being harsh. He really knew what he was doing.
