Is there a Jazz combo, orchestra, singer or group you wish you could hear live - either living or dead?
I would love to be able to hear Jelly Roll Morton - the Pearl and/or Bessie Smith.

Now that I've taken a little time to think harder about who I would love to hear live -
Billie Holiday with Duke Ellington

Definitely Duke Ellington and his Orchestra. I want it to be a good night though; Ellington's band was not terribly consistent, but when they were on, watch out!

Since you included the dead, that expands the list beyond my typing stamina, so confining myself to twenty:
Charlie Parker Duke Ellington Lester Young Bud Powell Sidney Bechet Clifford Brown John Coltrane Jelly Roll Morton Lee Morgan Coleman Hawkins Earl Hines Ben Webster Louis Armstrong Eric Dolphy Art Pepper Booker Little Roy Eldridge Johnny Hodges King Oliver Roland Kirk

A name not already mentioned, I would have loved to have seen Hampton Hawes perform in a trio format.

As a bopper at heart, I'd have to start with Bird, followed by Bud at his peak, then Tadd with Fats, Wardell and Allen. (I did manage to see Dizzy three times and Monk twice.) That will do to be going on with.
