We hear the term - Pop Music. Just what does that term really mean? Is it the currently "popular" music?
Where I'm going with this discussion, is to try to determine when a particular music style (or genre' if you want to use that term) becomes Pop and when it leaves the "POP" category. For example, there was a time that Blues music could have been considered Pop - in the mid 60's.
Today, it's the music if Taylor Swift, Celine Dion, et al.
It seems that most pop music stars seem to fade away...except what was once considered pop - Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Julie London, etc.
So, what is Pop music?

Music for the masses? Interesting some jazz standards were originally popular songs and some popular vocal songs of an era were also jazz instrumentals where the author originally wrote lyrics with the song.

My understanding of pop music is music only available on 45 rpm singles, therefore pop music has just about left us.
