We musicians tend to have a collection of good musical instruments. Some of them are quite valuable. What are your plans for these when you depart this life?
I have already begun the process of passing them along to those who would play them. I don't want to have my family fighting over who gets what!
I know there are some who have given some great instruments to the local schools, etc.

I've told my wife to let my daughter first choose two acoustics and and one electric. And then my son can choose four acoustics and two electrics. I have a couple I've promised to good friends, should I go before they do. (I have their names and addresses in the cases.) The rest of them she can sell (I keep fairly up-to-date values in all my cases) or do whatever she wants to with them. (She's threatened to make planters out of my old Nationals before!)
My daughter is a pretty accomplished guitarist and she knows quality. My son plays a little, but he's basically just a "strummer." That's why I let my daughter have first pick, and then let my son have twice as many as her. (To more or less give equal dollar-values to both kids.)
One guitar is to be buried with me. (My first acoustic. I paid $15 for it in 1965, and that was more than it was worth. (Then and now! LOL )
Edit:
With the exception of one guitar. The one in my avatar picture. I want my wife to sell it and not give it to anyone. It's pretty valuable ($20,000 to $25,000 right now) and my wife might need that money more than either of my kids need that guitar.

Good idea John. I probably should do the same with my old J45. But George Gruhn only valued mine at $8500 - $10,000

The guitar in my avatar-picture is a 1934 Gibson "The Jumbo" (not a re-issue) and fairly rare. One recently sold on ebay for $24,500 and it didn't look as nice as mine.

At a certain age will very likely sell most but may leave a few things to family possibly if they still actually play then. I don't want to leave a burden behind for wife or daughter trying to deal with appraisals and buyers among all the other things death related.

It's enough for the family to deal with everything, not to put more on them.
