Nice Jim! What Martin model is that? Looks like you've had that for at least a couple weeks.

Howdy Lee, (I haven't had a chance to give you a proper welcome yet.....I'm a slacker.....but mighty glad you decided to "set a spell" with us).
Regarding that Martin of Jim's.....I don't know for a fact but it looks like it could be a D-28....and he probably HAS had it a week or two. Of course, he hain't got a case for it...plus he drives a very small Yugo. I have heard that when he used to go play shows, there would not be enough room in the car for the guitar. So, he'd just tie a rope to the neck of the 28 and jess drag it behind the car all the way to the venue.
Jim has got a few tunes on soundcloud.com of him playing that Martin back in the 70s (I think). He could flat-out do some good picking back then.
One thing I will go ahead and say.....if I knew where Jim lived.....knew that the backdoor would be unlatched.....knew that his hound dog wasn't in the house....knew that him and his misses was over in town at the dry-goods store......I'd probably just walk right in and steal that cotton-picker.
I know that sounds bad.....but the road to recovery is admitting that you have a problem. I will admit that us old, wore-out, broke, hillbilly, rednecks will do a piece of stealing if there is a good guitar (or some corn "lickur") involved. [cheers] Be good Steve

Lee, Sorry for double posting......but I just found a picture of one of my guitars that is near-bout as old as Jim's Martin. My Uncle Clement gave this to me before he died. He bought it new in 1948. Although I got whipped a few times for sneaking in his room and playing it, I can say that I did "learn" a little bit about how to play on this rascal.....and it was (for sure) the 1st electric I ever played. It's a mess now and needs a bunch of work done to it. I keep saying I'm gonna save up and get it fixed.....but money is hard to come by these days. I had a guy offer me a pretty penny for it several years ago......but I couldn't sell it if I wanted to. Too many memories involved.....and too much love and respect for Uncle Clement!

Thanks for the greet Steven.
I thought dragging guitars behind the car was what they did before tonerites. It would be a quick way to get it to open up.
OBTW Jim lives down the road from me and his hound is always on the porch.

OBTW Jim lives down the road from me and his hound is always on the porch. Naaa, he's so lazy, he don't climb up on the porch...just lays there under it. That old Martin D28 ain't quite as "broke-in" as Willie's Trigger! And that Gibby J45 is a little older.

My latest addition is a vintage 1949 Gibson ES-150. Now I don't know what I'll do with it, but I couldn't resist the bargain at an estate sale.
