Who among us has built a guitar, either from a kit or from scratch.
If you have, do you have a sound clip?

Had thoughts over time but rather just play with time available. I'm not even in the ball park for wood working and so on except for setup and electricals.
Not having built one but have a really nice parts Tele put together by Rob at Fret Tech. He wound the pickups also which are named Cavalier Nashville Lion and Nashville Tiger. It is like a Fender Nocaster with some modern features like 4 way switch. I did a little circuit mod and added a vintage type round string tree. It weighs under 6 lbs even with the large neck and cost me $450.

I've never built what I'd call a 'serious' guitar, but I have several DIY constructions from scrap materials.
My Oil Can Guitar:
My Cigar Box Guitar:
I've since built a second CBG which sounds a little better & I gave to my Dad for Christmas, and there were a few earlier efforts - one from a chocolate tin and a diddley bow, which I haven't really felt the need to make recordings of as they were even more rough-and-ready than the ones on display!

I have a friend (that plays bass with me some) that builds excellent acoustics. He has built electrics also but the acoustics he has built are top notch. He has my Martin J15 doing a major mod right now and I can't wait to get my hands on it when he's through.
As for me I don'think I would ever attempt a build. I love doing setups and tweaking but I'll leave the building to the pros.

When I was a youngster, Mom & Pop bought me a Gibson SG for Christmas. Beautiful guitar, but it had issues with the bridge pulling out (a long story for another thread). My next door neighbor was a luthier who started with violins and Portuguese guitars.
He took a pile of scrap lumber and, using a Stratocaster as a guide, built a copy...even down to making his own pickups. (I was recruited as a counter for the windings). He made the pickup housings from venetian blinds!
That little puppy played better than my SG and the other Strat combined. Sadly, he passed before I could really appreciate his skills.

I have often thought that I might try to assemble one from parts from, say, Warmouth when I get a bit of time. It doesn't look too hard and if I get stuck, I'll go see my old friend Jonathan at Feline Guitars. All I have to do is find the time. I think it would be a Tele type if I did.
