Ok, nothing right now. But this has been a very popular topic on other forums I have visited. So it is my hope others will contribute to this thread as time goes on? I hope you see this thread, Bill F ?

Great topic Tom. Particularly with the recent Academy Awards shows and now most of the winners are available on BluRay or DVD. I'm looking forward to a couple of them. Dallas Buyers Club, Captain Phillips, and Wolf of Wall Street are high on my list.

Bruce Dern in 1972 science fiction. He's still recognizable in the recent Nebraska.

I'll have to look that one up and see it as am Bill Murray fan.
I have a DVD of "Relic" that have yet to watch. It is based on the same title book by Lincoln Childs and Douglas Preston. The film version though omits Inspector Pendergrass for some reason who was a main figure in the book. It is another scarey one or appears to be.

I'll say it without reservation - 2013 was the greatest year for film! After a phenomenal litany, which, in retrospect began months ago with MUD, I've seen a streak of magnificent movies that defies probability, including Dallas Buyers Club; 12 Years...; American Hustle; Blue Jasmine; Frozen (yes, animated!); Gravity; Lone Survivor; The Butler; Saving Mr. Banks; The Conjuring; Philomena; Nebraska; Prisoners; Fruitvale Station; The Purge (human monsters make the best horror films!); 42; AND...when I thought it simply couldn't get any better...August Osage County - Streep and Roberts are so absolutely magnificent that I'm simply at a loss to describe the emotional impact of their on-screen symbiosis; in fact, before the FIRST SCENE is completed, you may (as did I) ask, why not Streep for Best Actress!
Further, the ensemble is brilliant per expectation: I'm sure many of you cinephiles know and love the large body of supporting work performed by Chris Cooper and Margo Martindale, then throw in Ewan McGregor, Juliette Lewis (Kalifornia, The Other Sister - love 'em!), Sam Shephard (sadly short role, but necessarily so), Dermot Mulroney, and Abby Breslin...the chemistry is truly familial; in fact, the funeral dinner scene is worth the price of admission alone and could have, in weaker years, won the Best Picture Oscar by itself!/k

earleg - I'm a HUGE fan of the book Relic; by all means watch the movie, but don't expect anything resembling the chill up your spine as you read those night scenes in the museum while lying tucked in suspense under the covers!
