Robert Crais' Voodoo river, an Elvis Cole mystery from the mid 90's. I hit the thrift stores for books lately. Not familiar with that book or author, but familiar with buying books in thrift stores. Found an old hardcover copy of THE LAST ANGRY MAN in one of them in the mid '80's and in the late '90's found both a paperback copy of BEING THERE and a bit later the paperback of FORREST GUMP. And in time, also two of the books on ABRAHAM LINCOLN written by Carl Sandburg. I also built up my classical music collection from thrift shop finds. I'd look through the old LPs, find one by a composer I was unfamiliar with, buy it for 50 cents, and if I liked it I'd buy a new print, or eventually, a CD of the work. If I didn't like it, I was only out a half a buck. And if I can't spare 50 cents, I have no business ever leaving the house. Whitefang (I have another thrift store find I'll tell y'all about later )

Robert Crais' Voodoo River, an Elvis Cole mystery from the mid 90's. I hit the thrift stores for books lately. A lot of RV and resort parks have a give/take library, usually pretty small. Sine books are so cheap the way I'm doing I usually just put them in these libraries and see what I can find there as well. I doubt I'll ever be a Kindle guy.

Kindle? No thanks. I hate the thought of not being able to read or complete a book because my battery wasn't fully charged. But as far as that kind of stuff goes, there's this---- Whitefang

I detoured to deep space, Larry Niven's Ringworld Throne, now starting DeMille's The General's Daughter.

Just finished "When You Find My Body, The Disappearance of Geraldine Largay on the Appalachian Trail" by D. Dauphinee. True story of an elderly woman who got lost while hiking a rough section of the trail in Maine. Even though there was an exhaustive search her body wasn't found for a few years. Good reading, especially if you've ever thought about hiking on the AT.

It seems while I was attempting to send a reply to an e-mail from an old friend, I spotted a flash of something from Desertbluesman concerning a photo from Jawbone. Trying to locate it, I couldn't. So, IF DBM sees this, please try resending it to my personal e-mail address.

I'm midway through Joseph Wambough's "The Glitter Dome" which takes place in Hollywood. The characters and atmosphere although different kind of remind me a bit of the Pulp Fiction. The story takes place ~ 1980 or so and later was made a film starring James Garner. The Glitter DomeI've been borrowing - downloading books from the local library to a Lenovo tablet via a free program called Overdrive. It works on phones and various computers as well. One just needs a library card id # along with name and so on to work it. It is similar to the Amazon deal but with no cost.
