Timothy Findlay, "Famous Last Words". It's set in the 20's to 40's and deals with the crazy stuff with some Brits trying to ally with Germany against the Soviet Communists. Social political intrigue. The insanity of war, turmoil in Italy and Spain, the rabid misconceptions of the few that impacted the many. Juxtaposed with some of the very rich and famous who were on one side or another.

Me and a co-worker once toyed with the idea of putting out a book of "Famous Last Words", not about political intrigue or war or such, but more on a comic level. Famous last words like--- ..."I know what I'm doing." ..."I know a shortcut." ..."Doing it my way will be cheaper." ..."Hey, wanna see something funny?" Whitefang

Nelson DeMille's Up Country. Viet Nam 30 years after the debacle there ended. Part cop mystery, part romance, a lot SE Asia communist regime. Fascinating.

Since I got my new specs a couple of months ago I finally got around to re-reading WINTERDANCE by Gary Paulsen. It's about his experiences training for and running the Iditarod for the first time. One of my favorites. Whitefang

So here's an update. Jo did write her autobio. LONGHAND! So I transcribed it to a Word doc and it's at a writer friend's house now.
Which doing that, and the current state of our music, prompted me to start a history of our duo together. Holy cow! Big project.

Hang in there! Seems difficult these days, but consider.... All those great works by Hugo, Tolstoy, Twain and otheres were also written in longhand. You guys are in good company! Whitefang

I'll go with the keyboard. We got word today that Jo's bio won't really work for a novel format so we're looking at other options, one of which may be to merge both writings into one. There is a lot to this stuff even to publish on Amazon!

Michael Connolly's The Black Ice. It is an older 1993 one I somehow missed. Is as interesting and intriguing as his other books.

No One Here Gets Out Alive, Jim Morrison's bio. He was not a guy I'd want near my sister. Incredible contributor to the body of late 60's rock but the price those near him- let alone his own family- paid, was far too much. Just my opinion.

Haven't read that one since the '70's. 'Bout time for a re-read, eh? Whitefang
