All right for what it is but it didn't live up to the reviews.

Urgh..the only positive comment I can think of is that I only wasted one day on this balderdash.

This book was written about five years after the overthrow of the independent nation of Hawaii. Liliuokalani was the last monarch of Hawaii and it's really her story of the end of the monarchy. A very interesting account by someone who was there.

Somewheres East of Suez, Tristan Jones. He's a Welshman who has sailed all over the world. This book is about the third installment, he begins in Constantinople and heads south and east toward Thailand in a 28' trimaran. It's real deal "small guy" seafaring without the frills. Oh and by the way, Mr. Jones lost his leg along the way and used a hand built prosthetic. This is in the 1980's so you can imagine the hardship of dealing with a fairly crude by today's standards artificial limb. Add to that the fun of sailing a good size boat. When I was a tot, my uncle introduced all of us to sailing on one of the Finger Lakes in NY state. He lived on the lake, worked at a lumber yard for like 70 years, and ordered all his own wood and built his own boats. Not that we ever sailed any distance but this book and Mr. Jones are holding my attention very well.
