I'm not a big fan of soundtrack scores, but in recent years I've found out about a lot of cool artists from TV & Film soundtracks. My Top 3 must be: - The Garden State Soundtrack - I love this album more than anything, such a cool, chilled out collection of songs.
- The Treme Soundtracks (both Season 1 & 2 are awesome introductions to the modern sound of New Orleans)
- The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond - This is a great companion collection of songs to the film / books - with some bluegrass / country singers in the mix. I've only just spotted there's a companion soundtrack to the 2nd film which will accompany me on my walk to work in the morning.
What's everyone else's top 3?

The Robert Rodriguez films also have excellent soundtracks. Mexican Night wouldn't be the same without a bit of Tito & the Tarantula, The Latin Playboys or Los Lobos

Good Thread.
Cadillac Records: Even though the movie is fraught with errors (historically speaking), the soundtrack was awesome...IMHO

There have been a few film scores I have enjoyed. There was a 1959 B-movie entitled "T-Bird Gang". Horrible film, but what a great Cool Jazz score. it was written and performed by Shelley Mann and Company. Really outstanding.
Something else I have liked is the score(s) for the TV show, "The (New) Twilight Zone" as written and recorded by Merl Saunders and The Grateful Dead.

Time to resurrect this one. There are so many unmined film scores. Here's a trio of evocative sounds
