John was my favourite Beatle ( though it is rather like choosing your favourite son or daughter). I really "got" him- the humour the slant he had on things and also my singing voice is more like John's than any of the others. They are my all time favourite band and I still listen to them a lot.

Hello Ms. Kate, welcome to Talk Music.
Thanks for the link.
She's come a long way since I last gave her a listen.
Thanks again.

October 28, 1961: According to the Beatles' manager, Brian Epstein, this is the day on which a customer named Raymond Jones entered Epstein's Liverpool record store, NEMS, and requested a copy of the Beatles singing "My Bonnie" (a 45 the group had cut in Hamburg, Germany with singer Tony Sheridan). Epstein, impressed that someone would ask for a record cut by a local group but only available as an import, tracks the band down at the Cavern Club and offers to manage them.
Several Liverpool scenesters have since cast doubt on this story, claiming the group was already well-known in town.

Nov 23, 1962, The Beatles travelled to St. James' Church Hall, London, for a ten-minute audition with BBC Television. The audition came about when Beatles fan, David Smith of Preston, Lancashire wrote to the BBC asking for The Beatles to be featured on BBC television. Assuming that Smith was The Beatles' manager, the BBC wrote back to him, offering The Beatles an audition. Smith brought his letter to NEMS Enterprises, and Clive Epstein (Brian's brother) arranged for audition to take place. Four days later, Brian Epstein received a polite "thumbs-down" letter from the BBC.

A friend, writer and musician had George's Rosewood Telecaster consigned for a while in the '90s. Delaney Bramlett then owned it and after some time took it back. I think he gave it? to George's son or the estate bought it back. I played one briefly from that first batch of 3 Fender made. It was beautiful and different looking but very heavy as all solid Rosewood.

Interesting tidbit
On this day 1967
40-year-old David Mason recorded the piccolo trumpet solo for The Beatle's "Penny Lane" at Abbey Road Studios in London. He was paid 27 pounds, 10 shillings ($42) for his performance.
In August, 1987, the trumpet he used was sold at a Sotheby's auction for $10,846.

And that $42.00 would be worth $303.50 today

The only one I could find is a 2009 release that was of course remastered. It probably is time for another reissue on it.

Beatlephones. Nice. I wonder if these are the headphones the Beatles actually used in the studio...LOL.
