I love boogie woogie and honky tonk, and Im able to create a convincing honky tonk tone with this piano. I played chords in the right hand and octave notes in the bass. soundcloud.com/cameraman59/honly-tonky

Good job. Honky tonk music took its roots from Texas barrelhouse piano which also provided much of the earliest rock and roll aka Rhythm and blues...The Fatman - Fats Domino.

Hi, I am new here, can you give the the chord numbers for Honky Tonk so I can practise on left hand. I assume you can read music so would understand when I say stuff like. chords with 1-3-5-6-b7 in them, to make rock n roll etc.
Once I get the numbers I can use any chord and practise that pattern. if you can.
thanks.

great thread topic HONKY TONK Piano is one of the biggest sounds of the 40-70-s music n POOF it's gone
Im actually looking now for a Pianist n saw this, the last band I remember using such great piano riffs was Humble Pie, before that so many band had keyboards, organs etc.
Also where the SAX players? getting people together to sue what will be my last LP n both guys who played in the studio and on tour , playing Sax n a Keyboards are passed away. They were in there late 50s n would be 80 or so now but both are gone.
Having the right keys n a great Sax player IMO r the two BIGGEST sounds missing from most Music today
Anybody out there know of a sax player in the NYC area? I really hate just using a session player... Ya really want somebody who cares a bit more than a paycheck.....

Check out his brother too! He used to play in Jools' "Millionaires" and given Jools' demonstrable loyalty to (eg) Gilson Lavis, he probably still does. I saw The Millionaires at "Blazers" club in Windsor, Berkshire, England more years ago than I wish to admit. There was this guy cavorting animatedly around behind an upright with a hessian drape at the rear of the stage. When Jools gave him free reign, he was a bloody awesome barrelhouse keys tickler, at least as good as Jools.
Must be in the blood-line!
