When I think about those years that Starday was recording LPs in Nashville (Madison), I remember the song Barbara Mandrell did - I Was Country, When Country Wasn't Cool. The late 50s through the 60s was a rough period for true Country music. As much as I honored Chet Atkins, he was highly instrumental in the development of the Nashville sound which turned many of us old Honky Tonkers off. It led to the split in fans - the Outlaw Movement, and New Country. Country was fighting for it's place against the steam roller - Rock and Roll. Folk siphoned off many fans, some went over to the Blues and the British Electric Blues influences. But Starday, with George Jones, The Stanley Brothers, Cowboy Copas, et al. continued the fight for real Country, providing lps to us hard core country artists. www.bsnpubs.com/starday/starday100.htmlwww.bsnpubs.com/starday/starday200.htmlwww.bsnpubs.com/starday/starday300.htmlwww.bsnpubs.com/starday/starday400.htmlwww.bsnpubs.com/starday/stardaymisc.htmlwww.bsnpubs.com/discog.html
